Here's a Deal!!

The wonderful MK saw this and passed it along.  I thought I would share it with my readers.  It's a deal of $61.  I have never used it but the customer reviews on Amazon gave it 4 out of 5 reviews.  Folica.com also has 15 reviews if you want more information.

Product Review: Strictly Curls Curl Envy!!

A very good friend of mine has curltastic. Very curly and beautiful.  She says this product is her favorite for hur curls.  You can find at Ulta or CVS (among others probably).  If you go to the Marc Anthony website there is a really good video tutorial.

In other news, I used body wash instead of shampoo by accident.  whoops.  I'll probably have a terrible hair day because of it, but I hope you have a great one!

Emmy hair

And the Emmy goes to....
Julie Bowen

Julie Bowen is Claire Dunphy from Modern Family and hilarious.  I think her may have been tooooo straight but it's different from her normal hair.  You can't see from this picture, there was hair around her ponytail.  It gave a formal feel but so easy too.

I love effortless chic but I think for the Emmy's, it's okay to look like you spent 10 minutes on your hair.  The worst hair of the night goes to...

Katie Holmes

Sure, for everyday, her hair is adorable! But for the Emmy's?  I want something a little more exciting.

Have a great hair day!

Guest Review by the wonderful MK

Hello, all!  This is Mary Katherine or as most people call me "MK" guest blogging for Marissa!  As a HUGE fan of Great Hair Day, I was honored when asked if I could share my thoughts on my newest hair purchase, a Sedu Revolution 4000i hairdryer.

A bit of background.  I consider myself a fairly frugal person.  I admit my guilty pleasure is clipping coupons in Sunday's paper.  That is actually how I came across the $159 Sedu dryer.  There was an AD for Ulta and the pricey dryer caught my eye, mostly because of its price tag.  I had to do my research as to what could cause a hairdryer to be so expensive, I mean it just blows hot air, right?  WRONG!  After about 30 minutes of research on various websites I knew I had to try it.  Two days later I made the trek to Ulta to buy the pricey piece of plastic.  I was having second thoughts until I saw that there was a $50 rebate if I mailed my old hair dryer in, done and done!

Usually after I shower, I dread the following 20+ minutes that follow as that is how much time I spend drying my thick hair!  I was pleasantly surprised when the dreaded task lasted only 12 minutes.  Even better, my usually parched and frizzy post blow dried hair was quite supple and smooth.  I am the girl who was married to her CHI straightener (great by the way), but now unless I want the super sleek look, I no longer need to straighten to tame the frizz!  I would highly recommend this product to anyone, especially to those with thick hair, who is looking to cut down on drying time, improve the strength of their hair and reduce frizz.  My only cons is the price and that it does not come with a diffuser.  I was able to find one online though for $20, not too shabby!

Though I am partial to my Sedu, there are many dryers on the market that I am sure offer similar results.  You want to look for a dryer with ceramic heat as to not burn the hair, ionic generator to reduce frizz, a cold shot button to seal in moisture and style and finally POWER to reduce drying time!

Link to purchase the hairdryer at ULTA (though they are no longer offering the rebate).

As always for better deals, do a simple Google Shopping Search to find the best deal you can, you'll be happy you did!

Have a Great Hair Day!

xoxo, <3 MK and Sedu :)

Miss Universe

Sorry my posting has been a lackadaisical lately.  Also, how much do you love the word lackadaisical? Let's talk about the Miss Universe competition.  I loooove the big hair.  While most of the girls did big waves and big volume (hair event of the year for me), Miss Angola did a cute updo and was crowned Miss Universe. Below, I give my own awards for best hair and it was hard because they all wear their so similarly, which goes to show that big curls and big volume is almost universally flattering

First runner up:

Miss Hair 2011:

Miss Ukraine was first runner up in the "real" competition.  I think her hair helped her get there.

How adorable and gorgeous is she? She seems so surprised.

Game Day!

Probably getting it done for his Head and Shoulders commercial?  While I was getting my hair done, my hairdresser asked me what I missed most about home when I was at school in Canada and without missing a beat I said, "football."  I hope you're enjoying the first week of football as much as I am!

Waterfall Braid Tutorial

Here's a waterfall braid hair tutorial.  I think it would look best with straight hair.  I'm going to try it soon.

Another How I Wore It

Are you having a really great hair day and wanna show it off?  Send me a picture of your hair and I'll put it up.  I was pretty happy with how well my hair was cooperating this morning so took a few pictures.  Thanks photo booth.  Also, I finally bought Foxxy Curls and I love it.  It was $16 and smells like a candy necklace.

Have a great hair day!

Product Review. Kind of.

Most of the time, I buy whatever shampoo/conditioner is on sale.  The big trend recently is sulfate free shampoo.  I have been using it but I haven't seen much of a difference.  My sister just bought and used the organic shampoo above.  Her review:  it doesn't suds up and that's weird but her hair feels different, in a good way.  I asked her if it felt cleaner or softer.  Her answer: "I don't know, just better." She's so helpful. She got it at Rite-Aid for $6.99.  We'll let you know if it makes the difference in the long term.

Have a great hair day!
